Bexley resident Chris Musick, executive director for Otterbein College’s Center for International Education and Global Engagement, recently received the Award for Outstanding Contributions to International Education at the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Region VIII Conference in Washington, D.C.
The award recognizes a NAFSA Region VIII colleague who has demonstrated a commitment to the field of international education by dedication to the groups he or she serves and the collegial spirit he or she brings to theprofessional community. One award is given annually.
“Looking out in the audience after receiving the award and seeing representatives from so many prestigious institutions was a very humbling experience,” Musick says. “They recognized what I’ve accomplished, but what I want to contribute to the field has just begun.”
Musick is best known for founding and chairing the NAFSA One Person Office Special Interest Group. The group helps small international education offices across the world connect so they can unite their resources and knowledge for greater success. He also has served NAFSA as a network leader for Developing and Managing Programs Abroad, a frequent presenter and chair of NAFSA conference sessions and an Academy Coach, among other responsibilities. Musick joined Otterbein in August 2009. He previously worked on the international studies staff at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va.
