Ottebein co-hosts inaugural blood drive with rival school

Otterbein College and Capital University will soon take their rivalry off the football field and extend it into community service. The two schools will participate in the Otterbein vs. Capital Blood Battle blood drive Oct. 16.

Donations will be accepted from 1-7 p.m. that day at the Otterbein Campus Center. Otterbein alumnus Cabot Rea from NBC4 will attend the event from 1-2:30 p.m. to greet people and donate blood.

The two schools have partnered with the Central Ohio Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross to make the blood drive possible. The event encourages alumni and students to donate blood in the spirit of the long-standing rivalry. The winning school will be awarded a trophy during the pregame ceremony at the Otterbein vs. Capital football game on Oct. 24 at Otterbein.

Appointments for both blood drives are encouraged and can be made by calling 800-GIVE-LIFE (800-448-3543) or by visiting www.bloodsaveslives.org.
