The Ohio Historical Center readies for busy summer

Ever wondered what happens at the Ohio Historical Center once the last visitor leaves and security locks the doors for the night?

Now you can find out. Spend a "Night at the Museum" from 7-11 p.m. June 20 with a showing of the new movie Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian."

Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for youths (ages 6-12), and $10 for Ohio Historical Society adult members or $7 for youth members.

In addition to the movie, guests will be able to interact with living history characters from different time periods, from before the days of European settlement to the 1940s and beyond, and participate in fun activities and games. Storytelling and an evening snack round out the evening.

Additionally, the Ohio Historical Society will hold two "Echoes in Time Theatre" productions this summer, on the lawn of Teacher's Park on the Ohio Village grounds.

The first production is For the Ohio Country! set for June 11, 18 and 25. It follows the story of a woman leaving everything behind to follow her husband to the wild frontier.

For Cause and Comrades will be presented July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, following Union soldier Billy Yank as he fights for his country during the Civil War.

Audience members need to bring their own seating for the outdoor presentations. In case of rain, performance will be moved to the Discovery Theatre at the Ohio Historical Center. For more information, visit www.ohiohistory.org or call 614-297-2300.
