A protégé of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, Earle quickly became a master storyteller in his own right. His songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, The Pretenders, Joan Baez, and countless others.

His 1986 debut record, Guitar Town, shot to number one on the country charts and established the term “New Country.” What followed was an exciting and varied array of 11 releases including the biting hard rock of Copperhead Road (1988), the minimalist beauty and perfection of Train A Comin’ (1995), as well as the politically charged masterpieces, Jerusalem (2002) and The Revolution Starts…Now (2004), which earned Earle his first Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album.

Washington Square Serenade (2007) was produced by John King of the Dust Brothers (Rolling Stones, Beck) and recorded at New York’s legendary Electric Lady Studios, originally owned and operated by Jimi Hendrix. A longtime Nashville resident, Earle and wife Allison Moorer have called New York’s Greenwich Village home for the past three years, and this is his first release produced in the city.

Among his many accolades, Earle has received a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award (2004) and a Mojo Maverick Award (2005). He has also produced several albums by other artists including the 1996 Grammy Award-winning Car Wheels on a Gravel Road by Lucinda Williams and recorded duets with Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow, and Lucinda Williams among others.

Additionally, Earle has recently appeared in the recurring role of “Waylon” in six episodes of the final season of HBO’s distinguished series The Wire. He also recorded a new version of the Tom Waits classic Way Down in the Hole as the series’ theme song.

Allison Moorer debuted in 1998 with the release of A Soft Place to Fall for The Horse Whisperer, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for best original song.

Since the 1998 release of her debut album, Alabama Song, Moorer has released seven albums and 11 singles, four of which reached positions on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Moorer’s Days Aren't Long Enough duet with singer/songwriter and husband Steve Earle on his Washington Square Serenade album earned them a 2008 Grammy Award nomination for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.

In February 2008, Moorer released Mockingbird, which features covers of songs by female singer/songwriters. She is currently touring with Earle in Europe and the U.S.
