Annual car show and cruise-in for a cause returns to Dublin

The 27th Annual Arthritis Foundation Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In, which honors event co-founder Len Immke, runs July 10 and 11 at the Dublin Metro Center, 555 N. Metro Pl.

Friday’s Cruise-In, one of Central Ohio’s largest, opens at 10 a.m. More than 1,500 antique cars, street rods, muscle cars, customs and European exotics are expected to decorate the show grounds. Tribute band Mike Albert and the Big “E” Band will entertain the crowd with Elvis hits at 7:30 p.m. During intermission, 100 trophies will be awarded to some of the show’s best cars. There will also be a number of special awards presented, including best engineered street rod, best paint, best engine, best interior and best of show.

On Saturday, the event shifts gears to become the Classic Auto Show, attracting more than 1,000 classic and collector cars. The show will commemorate three anniversaries: Lincoln, Mustang and Mini Cooper, which are the featured vehicles during Saturday’s show.

A winner’s parade will cruise by the stage at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, and more than 300 awards will be presented to the best cars in their various classes. A concert by Phil Dirt and the Dozers at 7:30 p.m. will end the event. The group has been playing the show for the past 26 years.

General admission is $10 per person and includes the evening concert. Proceeds from the event benefit the Arthritis Foundation, Central Ohio Chapter. During the past 26 years, more than $2 million has been raised for the 486,000 Central Ohio residents who live with arthritis.
