Love is in the Hair
Columbus Dance Theatre and Hair Theater collaborate

The Columbus Dance Theatre will open its fall season with an exciting and zany collaboration with actress Pat Wynn Brown titled Love is in the Hair.

The performances are Nov. 7 and 8 at 8 p.m., and Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Columbus Dance Theatre, 592 E. Main St.

From the hairspray-saturated world of Brown’s Hair Theater and the contemporary ballet of Columbus Dance Theatre, comes a comedic, sing-along, performance-art experience.

This performance includes audience participation, dancing, the crowning of a queen, antics from Ms. Brown’s helpers, the Hairnettes, and a dance by the “drafted volunteers.” The show focuses on hair and music from the 1950’s and 60’s as Brown tells the story of her convoluted and comical love life through the evolution of her hairdos.

“We are thrilled to be working with Pat,” says CDT Artistic Director Tim Veach. “She approached me last year about the idea of incorporating dance into her production of Love is in the Hair. I love her work as a performer and the offbeat yet poignant nature of the production. This production will be a theatrical merger of dance, performance art, and audience participation, with a heavy dose of fun.”

The performance is also the annual fund-raiser for the Hair Theater Wig/Hat Fund, which has assisted 462 women going through hair loss as a result of chemotherapy. Brown is a cancer survivor with the mission to "Raise spirits, cover heads, spread laughter, save a life." A portion of the proceeds of this performance will go to the Wig/Hat Fund.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students, and can be purchased at www.coldancetheatre.org or 614-849-0227.
