Are you looking for a fun and creative girl’s night out to put you in the holiday spirit? Try the second annual Christmas Table Tops event at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5475 Brand Rd. Director of Congregational Ministries Barb Hoyt and congregation members Kay Wilhelm and Marion Amfahr co-chair the evening, which includes the table judging, cocktails, piano music and a sit-down dinner.
Individuals choose a theme and decorate a table for six. Every detail counts, from the silverware to the linens to the centerpiece. Past decorators get very involved: one woman even brought in her own set of table and chairs for the night. Guests mingle and vote for the best in several categories, including “Most Whimsical” and “Best Use of Theme.” The best tables at the event receive prizes. The grand prize in 2008 went to Wilhelm for her hot pink and green “Visions of Sugarplums” table.
“All 10 tables (last year) were unique and creative,” Wilhelm says. “The designers loved using items from their own homes and collections.”
Hoyt, Wilhelm and Amfar say they are hoping for 15 tables this year, grand designs and a fabulous turnout. Join them at 7 p.m. Dec. 7. Tickets to event are $25. For more information, contact Hoyt at .
