The first of an annual new series at The King Arts Complex, The Legends and Legacies Program recognizes the ancestral continuum of the rich and diverse artistry of African Americans by paying tribute to nationally recognized living legends, while presenting the influence of their achievements on others through performances by established and developing artists.
The six honorees this year are Ruby Dee, Mari Evans, Nikki Giovanni, Odetta, Sonia Sanchez, and Val Gray Ward.
