The City of Dublin has announced that pop music hitmaker Kenny Loggins will headline the “Dublin Through the Decades” Dublin’s Independence Day Celebration July 3 at the Dublin Coffman High School stadium, 6780 Coffman Rd.
Loggins has been a popular singer and songwriter in the music industry and Hollywood for four decades, with 12 platinum albums to his name. He began his career as a duo with Jim Messina. Loggins and Messina played together for five years, amassing hit singles such as “Your Mama Don’t Dance,” “Watching the River Run,” “Danny’s Song,” “Love Song” and many others.
Loggins began his solo career in 1976, and his first three albums – Celebrate Me Home, Keep the Fire and Nightwatch - all went platinum. His hit singles included “Celebrate Me Home,” “This Is It,” “What A Fool Believes,” "Whenever I Call You Friend" featuring Stevie Nicks and more. In addition, Loggins received two Grammy Awards for “What A Fool Believes” and “This Is It.”
During the ‘80s, Loggins earned additional fame by doing movie soundtrack themes. These include "Footloose” from the eponymous movie starting Kevin Bacon, “Danger Zone” from the Tom Cruise film Top Gun and “I’m Alright” from Caddyshack.
Dublin residents may purchase reserved on-field tables for the concert beginning at 7:30 a.m. May 5 at the Dublin Community Recreation Center, 5600 Post Rd. Reserved tables of 10 are available for $100 on the field. Proof of City of Dublin residency is required, and there is a limit of two tables per household. If tables are still available, they will go on sale to the general public June 1. Free seating is available in the bleachers at the stadium on a first-come, first-served basis. No tickets are required for bleacher seating.
