The Kelton House Museum and Garden will host a special tour that will let visitors experience the splendor of the holiday season 19th century style.
During December, the museum, located at 586 E. Town Street in Downtown Columbus, will display 19th century ornaments and decorations from the collection of Michael Girard. Girard is a long-time collector of holiday decorations and is a member of the Golden Glow Club, whose members collect vintage holiday artifacts. His collection includes homemade "scrap" ornaments made from chromolithograph pictures, spun glass, tinsel and other found materials, as well as early glass ornaments.
The Kelton House Museum is open for tours and to view the Girard collection every Sunday except holidays from 1 to 4 p.m.
A costumed docent will lead visitors through the museum and will tell the story of the Kelton family and holiday traditions in the context of 19th century Columbus life.
Additionally, throughout December, the museum has extended hours on Fridays, from noon to 2 p.m.
Cost of the tour is $6 per person for adults, $4 for senior citizens and $2 for children. For more information, call the museum at 614-464-2022.
