Journey Around the World
CAPA presents the African Children's Choir

CAPA presents The African Children’s Choir at the Palace Theatre, 34 W. Broad St., on March 15, at 3 p.m.

Founded in 1984 by human rights advocate Ray Barnett, the African Children’s Choir is comprised of children aged 7-11, each of whom has lost one or both parents to poverty or diseases such as AIDS. Many of these children come from Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and South Africa. Each year, a new choir is selected and the children from the previous year’s choir return to their homelands to attend school. Their education is completely funded by The African Children’s Choir.

The African Children’s Choir has been working with the most vulnerable children in Africa for 23 years, raising awareness of the plight of the orphaned and abandoned, but also showing the beauty, dignity and potential of the African child. They perform throughout the world as a voice for millions of children suffering in Africa. The choir will perform its new show, “A Journey of Hope,” which tells the unique story of the choir through music and dance from various regions in Africa.

The choir has performed on top-rated television talk shows such as Good Morning America, Ellen, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The group also performed on American Idol’s charity event episode, “Idol Gives Back,” with Grammy Award-winner Josh Groban.

Tickets are $27.50, $22.50, $15, and $7.50 at the Ohio Theatre Ticket Office, 39 E. State St., all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com.
