In the Haus
Truberry Group’s Custom Renovation project centers on German Village
German Village is known for its authenticity, its quaintness. Homes and lots aren’t too big, but they’re unique.
Truberry Group is about ready to shatter the prototype of this historical neighborhood. This Custom Renovation has been underway since October 2006 and is set for completion by the end of June on a house/lot combination located at 639 Mohawk St., just south of Lindey’s Restaurant.
The house, built in 1867, sits on one of the largest lots in the Village, lending itself to this renovation that will increase its size more than five times over, from the 575-square-foot original to the anticipated 3,002 square feet.
The finished product will boast three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a beamed-ceiling in the kitchen and gathering room, a backyard veranda and a courtyard in the front. There will also be plenty of room for a large carriage garage in the back and plenty of landscaping.
The home was chosen as the starting location for the German Village Haus und Garten Tour fundraiser, which is held annually to benefit the German Village Society. The Pre-Tour Party is June 23 from 4:30 p.m. to midnight, and includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music and a private dinner party hosted by one of the German Village homeowners. The cost to attend is $125 per person.
The Truberry Haus will be the focal point of the tour itself, which is June 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the Village. The 48th annual event will feature 12 sites, gardening demonstrations, shopping, a watercolor competition and much more. The daylong tour celebrates innovative design and award-winning restorations, such as the German Village Haus Custom Renovation. The theme this year is “The Art of Living.”
Architects on the project are Kirk Denyes of Truberry Group and Bill Hugus of William Hugus Architects in German Village.
Proceeds from the sale of the home will benefit the Columbus Housing Partnership and the German Village Society, both non profit organizations. For more information on the German Village Haus Custom Renovation, visit www.truberry.com/germanvillage.htm
