The Jazz Arts Group’s 2009-2010 Swingin’ at the Southern series continues with Home for the Holidays, featuring UK vocal sensation Helen Welch in six performances with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra. This concert full of holiday favorites is Dec. 2-6 at the Southern Theatre, 21 E. Main St.

Welch has previously lit up the stage and captivated audiences at both the Southern Theatre and the CJO’s summer JazZoo series.

She has starred in roles in productions such as Hello Dolly!, 42nd Street, Oliver Twist and Carousel. She also starred in a television documentary for the BBC after winning a singing competition to perform in the Lieber and Stoller musical Smokey Joe's Cafe on Broadway. Welch recorded her first CD with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra in 2006 and continues to perform with the group.
