High School brings baseball to the stage with "Damn Yankees"

Major league baseball's opening day might still be a month away, but you can get your baseball fix - in musical form - this weekend.

The Upper Arlington High School Vocal Music Department will perform the musical Damn Yankees at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19-21 and at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 22. The performances will take place in school's auditorium (1650 Ridgeview Rd.).

Damn Yankees is a colorful musical comedy, with a book written by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop and music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Moss. It is based on the novel by Wallop called The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant. In the musical, a diehard fan of the Washington Senators baseball team sells his soul to the Devil to become a young hitter who can save his beloved team.
