Sunbear Studio is exhibiting the diverse works of 15 local fine artists during “Harvest the Art,” a three-day fall arts fair that also offers demonstrations, door prizes, a bargain-art tent and a chance to win an original pastel painting by studio owner Meredith Martin.
The event is Nov. 6-8 at Sunbear Studio, located in a renovated historic town hall at 3658 State Route 605 (corner of Rich and 605) in Center Village, just north of New Albany.
Exhibiting artists work in a variety of media including stained and fused glass, sculpture, ceramics, photography, pastels and watercolor. Jewelers will exhibit pieces of gold, silver, glass and beads. All art and jewelry on exhibit is available for purchase.
Attendees also will be able to see how some of the artists create their works, with live demonstrations throughout the event. John Shremshock will demonstrate Raku firing methods for pottery. Raku pottery has it roots in Japan on the creation of pottery used in the Japanese tea ceremony.
Kurt and Lorry Wendling will show how they make exquisite works of stained glass. And Jeweler Bonnie Moseley will work on gold and silver gemstone jewelry during the event.
Harvest the Art includes a “bailout bargain tent,” with dozens of pieces available for from 50 to 75 percent off the original prices of up to $500.
One collector will win a pastel painting by studio owner Meredith Martin, who is raffling off Cathedral Windows, an Ohio winter landscape, to raise funds for the New Directions Domestic Abuse Center of Knox County.
All attendees will have the opportunity to win works of art, valued up to $125 each, as door prizes, and the first 24 attendees on Friday will receive limited-edition prints featuring Martin’s signature cow art. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served throughout the event.
The weekend of Harvest the Art, Sunbear Studio also is participating in a Sister Studio Tour. The tour includes The Red Z (previously, The North Main Gallery), in Mount Vernon; and The Artist’s Roost, in Westerville. Maps are available at Sunbear Studio.
Hours of Harvest the Art are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information on the studio, visit www.SunbearStudio.com or call 740-965-5800.
