A local photographer, hair stylist, make-up artist and wardrobe stylist recognized a unique market in Columbus that had yet to be filled.

Lauryn Byrdy, a Central Ohio photographer, had collaborated on projects as frequently as possible with a styling team, comprised of Leanna Murphey of PRIMP Hair Studios, Kelli Ramey of BeautiMarked by Kelli and Meagan Carey of The Fashion Darling. The four women, however, soon had the idea to house their businesses in one studio and create a one-stop shop for their clients.

“When we found the property, we decided we should just take the leap and bring all of our services under one building,” Byrdy said. Thus began the union of four female small-business owners, whose full-service photography studio will be the first of its kind in Columbus.

Located at 433 West Third Ave., the photography studio will offer hair, make-up and wardrobe styling for its customers. “It elevates the final product by collaborating with these different services,” Byrdy said. “The photographs look better in the end.” While Ramey and Carey’s services will be by appointment only, there is a separate portion of the studio for Murphey’s hair salon. Although independent businesses, their location in one studio allows for greater creativity and camaraderie on projects, Byrdy said.

Extending their partnership to other female business owners, the studio has also created the PRIMP network, which is a network of creative women-owned businesses in Columbus.The network is intended to create a greater sense of connection and support among women business owners in the community. “We hope the PRIMP network will come to be well-known,” Ramey said. “If someone is involved with it, they will know they are getting something of quality.”
