Upper Arlington Cultural Arts Division presents "The Tempest" in Sunny 95 Park - Free!
Who knew an ordinary-looking truck could transform into a Shakespearean stage – and in only 30 minutes. But that’s exactly what will happen when the Momentum Theatre Troupe arrives to perform in Upper Arlington on Wednesday, July 28.

Presented by the Upper Arlington Cultural Arts Division, the show will feature a performance of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, a story of revenge, identity and love. It will also include two short plays: Eugene Ionesco’s absurdist comedy “The Leader” and an adaptation of “Jabberwocky,” a poem written by Lewis Carroll in the style of nonsense verse.

The actors, all internationally trained theatre professionals, strive to bring innovative theatre to audiences throughout New England and the Midwest. But they couldn’t have done it without the help of Artistic Director Sean Eastman, who designed and built the theatre truck in 2007.

Eastman’s vision was to bring theatre to diverse audiences while embracing the lifestyle of performers throughout history, including the Commedia dell’Arte performers of Shakespeare’s time and the circus and sideshow performers of the 1880s.

Momentum’s 2010 Summer Tour runs from June 7 to Aug. 5. The troupe will stop to perform in Upper Arlington at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, at Sunny 95 Park at Carriage Hill Lane and Windham Road. Admission is free. Donations are encouraged.
