Heidi Klum often says, “Either you’re in or you’re out” to the contestants on the hit show Project Runway. Tad Boetcher, a New York City fashion designer, is in! Tad is an Ohio native, returning to make an appearance in Columbus to show his new line called “tad b”.
Boetcher will be at the Hickory Lakes Oswego Lodge, 12495 Ault Rd. NW, Pickerington, on Saturday, March 15, from 1-4 p.m.
Boetcher's passion for art has always been strong. Growing up, he sketched countless designs in hopes of one day becoming a fashion designer. With the support from his mother Carolyn and father Lynn, he pursued his dreams by enrolling in the fashion design program at Kent State University.
Upon arriving at the Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising at Kent State, Boetcher had no formal training, but his art skills helped lead him through the program, as he learned to sew and enhance his ability to sketch.
After graduating from Kent State University, Boetcher moved to New York City with only $2,000. New York City was not as glamorous as he had imagined at first, while living in a one bedroom apartment with four roommates. After three months, he landed his first job at Ellen Tracy where he worked for the next five years. From there he ventured in to many different exciting positions.
Boetcher has worked for Michael Kors, Dana Buchman, Magaschoni, Ann Taylor Loft and Bill Blass. During his time at Bill Blass, Boetcher launched Bill by Bill Blass. He designed a bridge knit sweater line, which gained him recognition in Women’s Wear Daily. He is currently launching his own line called “tad b”.
tad b stands out among other bridge lines in the market due to his trademark intricate beading and the use of silk milk yarns. Boetcher is one of the first American fashion designers to use this “environmentally aware” yarn; which helps assist the skin’s ability to retain moisture leaving it feeling tender and smooth.
As an Ohio native and Kent State University graduate, Boetcher welcomes all to come see what this New York City designer has to offer. Those interested in attending should RSVP to . For more information, call 614-837-2143.
