Kick-off the spring cleaning season by joining the City of Dublin and the Eco Dublin team at this year's Eco Dublin Expo. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon April 11 at the Dublin Community Recreation Center, 5600 Post Rd.
This year the Eco Dublin Expo welcomes Possitivity Green, which will collect old cell phones to recycle. Possitivity Green recycles all phones back into the manufacturing stream: it guarantees a no-landfill policy, wipes out all memory and phone lists at no cost and assures the security of devices and sensitive information. Documentation is available for a charitable donation tax credit.
The expo will also feature a shredder truck from ShredDirect. Attendees can recycle many kinds of paper safely and quickly, including old financial documents, brochures, business forms, computer paper, colored paper, copy paper, envelopes, fax paper, glossy paper, junk mail and more.
Attendees will also have the chance to bring their compact florescent lightbulbs as well as any household battery to recycle. The expo will not accept car batteries for recycling.
The expo, which is free and open to the public, will offer educational opportunities, as well. Community members may speak with city foresters and nature education experts, learn about animals, native plants and other nature-related topics and discover ways to be green at home. More than 30 organizations are attending this year’s expo. The organizations include lighting companies, lawn care companies, Green Plumbing, a Community Supported Agriculture and more.
Returning at this year’s event is the “Right Tree, Right Place Tree” program. During this educational forum, city foresters will offer information on selecting and planting the right trees for your property trees.
Kids are also invited to attend the expo. Kids’ activities include live animals and educational exhibits from state and local organizations.
