Dublin Chamber Presents Spotlight Dublin Award

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce will present Cathy De Rosa, vice president of global marketing for OCLC, with the 2009 Spotlight Dublin Award at its 25th Anniversary Recognition Luncheon Dec. 11, according to a press release from the chamber. The luncheon will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Muirfield Village Golf Pavilion, 5760 Memorial Dr.

De Rosa is a well-known speaker on libraries and information technology issues and has lectured at more than 250 events around the world. She currently leads a public awareness and advocacy campaign aimed at increasing financial support for U.S. public libraries. Funded by a $5 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the campaign has also captured the interest of libraries in Europe and Asia, where funding for public libraries is also under stress.

“We are thrilled to present this year’s Spotlight Dublin award to Cathy De Rosa, who has really shined the light of Dublin innovation on an international stage,” says Chamber Executive Director Margery Amorose. “Cathy embodies everything that this award represents.”

The Spotlight Dublin Award has been given annually since 1985 to recognize a person, place or thing that has brought positive national attention to Dublin. Previous winners include OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital, Jack Nicklaus, Jack Hanna, Bobby Rahal, Dave Thomas, Kent Mercker, Robert D. Walter, Marilee Chinnici-Zuercher and the Dublin Irish Festival.

De Rosa focuses much of her considerable energy on looking for new ways to highlight the value and need for libraries and education worldwide. She leads library market research initiatives for OCLC and is a principal contributor to several award-winning international studies of library use, awareness and brand recognition in the age of Internet savvy information consumers.

De Rosa's interest in learning and education has also been evident on a local stage. De Rosa served on the Dublin City Schools Business Advisory Council for three years - where she chaired the communications committee - supporting the work of the district and administration in spreading the message about opportunities to engage with and support the schools.

The Recognition Luncheon provides an opportunity for area businesses to reward their best clients or congratulate employees for a job well done. Guests are eligible to win door prizes and browse the Muirfield Village Pro Shop. The luncheon begins with a cash bar, followed by lunch and the official program. Tickets are $28 per person or $320 for a corporate table of 10 (includes program recognition). Valet parking is included. For more information, call 614-889-2001 or visit www.dublinchamber.org.
