This summer is packed full of fine art events and activities for the residents of Dublin, thanks to the Dublin Area Art League.
The Art League has been working for the past 25 years to promote and expand the visual arts in the central Ohio area and the Dublin community. This season, the Art League has several events open to the public that include a Recreation Center Art Gallery featuring DAAL member art work, the eighth-annual Plein Air painting contest open to any inspiring artist and the annual Dublin Art Stroll.
The DAAL believes in creating a convenient, friendly way for artists to develop their talents, connect with other local artists, and develop their interest in the visual arts, and the Plein Air painting contest and the Dublin Art Stroll are two perfect ways to interact and maybe even participate in the local art scene. Both events will be held on Saturday, June 25 in Dublin’s Historic District near BriHi.
The painting contest is open to anyone with a passion for painting and after a day of painting a scene of the historic area the artists will be judged in the Dublin Library for three possible awards.
The Art Stroll will also have a stop in the Dublin Library as well as the Chamber of Commerce and the Visitors and Convention Bureau. From any of these three points maps will be available that will guide the art enthusiasts to the businesses that are displaying the art of DAAL members.
But if you can’t make it that weekend, the DAAL along with Grand Scheme Promotions will be hosting the fourth-annual 2011 Dublin Art Fair, “A Community Celebration of Art.”
The fair will be held in Dublin’s Historic District on the front lawn of Sells Middle School and Indian Run Elementary from 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 17and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 18.
Not only will there be more than 85 local artists, but this year for the first time there will be artists from out of state says DAAL member Rich Sharick.
There will also be live entertainment including the Millennium School of Irish Dance, In Full Swing Big Band, Flutasia Flute Ensemble and several others.
“It’s going to be bigger and better than ever, but still a very high quality” says Sharick.
