A London taxi driver struggles to maintain his secret double life in the comedy Run for Your Wife, the Curtain Players production opening Oct. 23 at the community theatre’s 5691 Harlem Road playhouse.
Tim Browning directs Run for Your Wife, the story of a simple man named John Smith (played by Nick Lingnofski) who gets away with having two wives (Ashley Greene, Laura Miller) in different areas of London because of his irregular working schedule as a cab driver.
A freak accident causes John’s worlds to collide, and two nosey police officers (Char Anderson and Jeb Bigelow) are called into investigate. That puts the pressure on John who enlists the aid of his friend Stanley (Ben Hackney). The hapless duo embarks on a series of wildly implausible explanations to cover John’s tracks, but the more they lie, the deeper the hole they dig, and the more the situation all starts to go horribly but riotously wrong.
Dale Bush and Jeff Kemeter complete the cast of this Ray Cooney farce.
Run for Your Wife will be staged at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays Oct. 23-24, 30-31, and Nov. 6-7 and 2 p.m. Sundays Nov. 1 and 8. Tickets are $14 ($12 for senior citizens and students).
