Day at the Museum(s)
Saturday offers a free day of history and education

The Ohio Historical Society is just one of many Ohio entities participating in Museum Day Sept. 26. Presented by Smithsonian magazine, Museum Day offers site and museum entrance for free for one day only.

More than 1,000 museums and cultural institutions nationwide will be taking part in this year's event. Organizers expect to surpass last year's record attendance of 200,000 because visitors can gain free admission to more museums that normally charge a fee.

"We are pleased to again be part of this national event to promote Ohio's heritage and culture," says Connie Bodner, Ohio Historical Society director of education and interpretation services. "Hopefully, this will encourage folks who have never visited our many wonderful historic sites and museums to take the time to see what we have to offer."
