Community to light and dedicate tree for Stefanie Spielman

Members of the Upper Arlington and extended Central Ohio communities will celebrate the life of breast cancer advocate Stefanie Spielman by lighting and dedicating Stefanie's Tree of Hope Dec. 13 at Upper Arlington High School.

Spielman, who died in November after a years-long battle with breast cancer, was an Upper Arlington resident with her husband, former NFL and Ohio State University football player Chris Spielman, and their four children. The donated tree from Oakland Nursery is located by the school's Ridgeview Road entrance, and will be dedicated and illuminated as a tribute to Stefanie's memory and efforts to fight cancer, both with fundraising and awareness.

The tree dedication will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will also be a performance by the Upper Arlington Vocal Ensemble as directed by Eric Kaufmann. Contributions to the Tree of Hope Fund can be made by sending donations to 1950 N. Mallway, Upper Arlington, 43221. Make checks payable to the Upper Arlington Education Foundation, and write "Tree of Hope" on the memo line. Online donations can be made at www.spielmanfund.com.
