In a new section in Healthy New Albany Magazine, we talk to prominent national or community figures who have made their mark on Columbus in some way and learn about what they do on a regular basis to stay healthy. We had a chance to talk with New Albany Mayor Sloan Spalding.
Healthy New Albany: Are there any foods that you avoid or emphasize?
Sloan Spalding: Eating healthfully requires planning. I emphasize fresh fruit and try to avoid baked goods (cookies are my weakness).
HNA: What are your favorite ways to stay active?
SS: I try to work out every morning. It really clears my mind and helps me start the day on a positive note. Road bicycling is my favorite.
HNA: What do you like to do to relax?
SS: Cook or read a good book.
HNA: How do you incorporate physical activity into family time?
SS: Our family is very active. We love to go for family walks (with the dog) or bike rides.
HNA: Where are your favorite places to bike ride?
SS: With the family up to Market Street. “Out with the guys” is a 50-mile loop to Granville for coffee!
