Kumon opens in Upper Arlington

Columbus resident Angela Bower is opening doors April 26 to a new math and reading enrichment program in Upper Arlington.

Kumon learning center, at 1214 Kenny Centre Rd. near the intersection of Kenny and Henderson roads, is designed to help students through daily practice and mastery of materials.

Founded in 1958, the Kumon learning method uses an individualized approach that helps children develop a solid command of math and reading comprehension skills, according to Bower.

“At Kumon, we believe children have unlimited potential to succeed,” Bower says. “My goal is to help each child develop strong academic skills, a love of learning and the confidence to excel beyond the classroom. I have seen what the program can do for my own children and knew that I needed to share this experience with others. There is nothing better than watching your 3 year old pick up a book and actually read it to you, instead of the other way around.”

The new Upper Arlington Kumon center is just one of nearly 26,000 Kumon centers in 46 countries.

Upper Arlington Kumon is open from 3-7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. For more information or to schedule a free placement test, call (614) 538-0483 or e-mail upperarlingtonnorth_oh@ikumon.com. A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 26.
