As the leaves change, temperatures drop and children plan their Halloween costumes, C3 Church is preparing for its own Halloween weekend events.
Located at 200 Hill Rd. S, C3 Church will be a busy place Oct. 30-31. The family-friendly weekend includes an art sale, 5K race and Fun-O-Ween, a free festival. At least 50 volunteers from the church plan to work the events. Church representatives anticipate a crowd of up to 1,000 people, an increase from last year turnout of 700.
• The 3rd annual Art Sale will be from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 30 and from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 31, with art priced from $10-$30. The art comes from the Web site Art.com and includes items that usually sell for up to $250, says Dawn Dee, event coordinator for the church.
• Also on Oct. 31, the C3 5K registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. In addition to the standard 5K race, the church offers the Fun Run for small children to participate in their own race. “Any child under 12 can run and win prizes,” Dee says.
• After the race, the Fun-O-Ween festival will offer games, hay rides, food, candy and much more. There will be crafts for kids, such as pumpkin painting and Halloween masks for kids to decorate. After the success of last year’s Chili Cook-Off, there will be also be a Pumpkin Bake-Off, during which participants may enter “any baked item with pumpkin ingredients,” Dee says. The 3rd annual Fun-O-Ween runs from noon to 3 p.m.
