Fifth Third Bank Broadway Across America - Columbus is packing all three into one season, and then some! The 2007-08 show schedule kicks off Nov. 13-25 with Monty Python's Spamalot at the Ohio Theatre.
Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Spamalot is the outrageous new comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers will all be featured on this stage adaptation.
From Dec. 11-16 at the Palace Theatre Broadway Across America - Columbus will present Sweeney Todd, a story about the legendary demon barber, hell-bent on revents, who takes up with his enterprising neighbor in a delicious plot to slice their way through London's upper crust.
The Wedding Singer takes the stage at the Palace Theatre from Jan. 1-6, 2008. The new romantic musical comedy is based on the movie, featuring rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart through his tumultuous 1985 as New Jersey's favorite wedding singer.
Michael York, British state and film legend, will star in the magnificent new production of Lerner and Loewe's timeless masterpiece Camelot, at the Palace Theatre from Feb. 5-10, 2008. King Arthur's enchanted kingdom Camelot is a place where honor and chivalry reign, but can this idyllic land survive when Queen Guenevere falls in love with Sir Lancelot?
The 2004 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q, will be presented April 22-27 at the Palace Theatre. The hilarious show, full of heart and hummable tunes, is about trying to make it in New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. The show is recommended for ages 13 and up.
A show that is sure to appeal to an audience of all ages is Disney's The Lion King, which will be presented at Ohio Theatre from Aug. 28-Sept. 28, 2008. Finally, the season special of Jesus Christ Superstar will be presented at the Palace Theatre from Feb. 29-March 2, 2008. The first masterpiece from the legendary writing team of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, this production changed the world of musical theatre in 1971 when it was first performed, becoming the original rock opera.
