Outside Envy, Otterbein College, The Westerville Uptown Merchants Association and the Westerville Visitors and Convention Bureau have teamed up to host and promote a book reading, signing and giveaway at Otterbein College's Courtright Memorial Library. Author Marlane Kennedy will read from her book The Dog Days of Charlotte Hayes beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the library. The signing and giveaway will follow at 6 p.m. in front of Outside Envy, located at 15 N. State St.

The Dog Days of Charlotte Hayes adresses the issue of finding the right home for a dog in ways that are educational, heartwarming and humorous. Written for a middle school audience, the book contains lessons appropriate for all ages, according to a press release.

To get a free book, kids may donate money or pet items to benefit the Humane Society. Acceptable items include dog toys, leashes, bowls, biscuits, crate pads, blankets and more. Books will be given away as long as supplies last.
