BalletMet Takes Manhattan
Follow your favorite BalletMet dancers to New York City for a special performance at the renowned Joyce Theater from Sept. 30-Oct. 5.

This prestigious invitation to the Joyce is an exciting opportunity for the company and its Columbus fans. BalletMet was one of only 27 companies selected from an international field of 63 applicants to perform. The troupe’s NYC debut was in 2004 at The Joyce, in which The New York Times described the performance as “a mesmerizing tour de force.”

So mesmerizing, in fact, that BalletMet was invited back a few months later to perform at the River to River Festival, sharing the stage with companies including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet.

“Our selection for a repeat engagement is not only significant for BalletMet, but for Columbus and the city's reputation as a cultural hub,” says Jennifer Sciantarelli, communications manager for BalletMet. “It's quite an undertaking – flying dancers, production crew, staff, costumes, shoes, etc. to New York for a week of rehearsals and shows. It's an adventure for our staff, as well as for the fans we hope will join us – what a perfect opportunity for a NYC vacation!”

Noteworthy companies that have performed at The Joyce include Twyla Tharp Dance, Pilobolus, Ballet Hispanico and Martha Graham Dance Company. For more information on the trip, including a travel guide, visit www.balletmet.org.
