BalletMet Recognized for Quality Arts Education
Education Society honors organization for outstanding contributions

BalletMet has been recognized for its educational activities by a Central Ohio education honor society.

The Central Ohio chapter of Pi Lambda Theta awarded BalletMet for its significant contribution to the education field through quality arts education. The award was presented May 22 at the Clintonville Women's Club.

Pi Lambda Theta is an educational honorary founded in 1910. Its mission is to honor outstanding educators and inspire them to be effective leaders who address critical issues in education.

BalletMet's Education and Community Programs provide quality dance experiences that are informative, inspirational and accessible so that the entire community may appreciate and enjoy the art of dance.

Programs include in-school residencies and performances as well as educational theatre performances. BalletMet also provides professional development opportunities for teachers in arts integration, demonstrating ways the dance and movement can enhance student learning in other academic curricula.

The BalletMet Dance Academy was also acknowledged by Pi Lambda Theta for its outstanding educational activities. The Dance Academy ranks among the nation’s top five dance-training centers affiliated with a professional company and teaches more than 1,000 students of all ages.

BalletMet’s educational programs were also recognized in March with a $1,000 award from the Greater Columbus Community Helping Hands Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to activities that enhance educational opportunities for community youth. The award benefits BalletMet’s Community Outreach Scholarship Program, which provides year-round dance instruction and other dance-related activities free of charge to economically disadvantaged youth.
