The BalletMet Dance Academy, one of the country’s top five dance-training centers affiliated with a professional company, will launche a new satellite location this fall. Dance classes at the Gahanna site begin Sept. 10.

Located at 1141 North Hamilton Road in Gahanna’s Vista Plaza, the site will feature two fully equipped studios with state of the art flooring and live piano accompaniment for ballet classes.

The satellite location opens as BalletMet celebrates its 30th anniversary. The milestone is an ideal occasion to build upon the nationally recognized Academy, which serves more than 1,100 students at its downtown Columbus site, the BalletMet Dance Centre, at 322 Mount Vernon Ave.

Academy Managing Director Chris Rogers says the additional facility not only expands the capacity of the school, but also offers an opportunity for families in the Gahanna/New Albany area.

“This is our chance to reach families who are unable to travel to our home in downtown Columbus, while still providing BalletMet’s high standard of excellent dance education,” says Rogers.

Classes at the Gahanna site are available Monday through Thursday and Saturdays for children and adults. Early childhood classes include creative movement, ballet and tap. Teen and adult classes include ballet, jazz and Pilates.

Exclusive to the Gahanna location is “Come Dance With Me” a movement and music exploration class for 3-year-old children that they can enjoy with a parent or other adult. Master classes with the BalletMet Professional Company artists will be offered six Sundays throughout the school year for intermediate and advanced students.

All students interested in registering for classes at either the BalletMet Dance Centre or the Gahanna location are invited to attend a free Open House 6:30 to 8 p.m. on July 24 at the BalletMet Dance Centre, 322 Mount Vernon Ave. There will also be an Open House at the Gahanna location Aug. 28, time to be determined.
