ProMusica and guest violinist Vadim Gluzman explore the ways in which four very different composers entertained.
Gluzman and ProMusica will perform Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons 5:30 p.m., Dec. 12, at Worthington United Methodist Church and 7 p.m., Dec. 13, at the Southern Theatre.
The program consists of more than just the famous Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, which concludes the evening. Franz Schubert’s Five German Dances kicks off the night, followed by Giya Kancheli’s A Little Daneliade and Mozart’s Divertimento in D Major. The Four Seasons takes the audience on a 43-minute journey through four separate pieces meant to evoke the temperament of each season.
Poet Maggie Smith will also take the stage to read sonnets inspired by the Italian composer’s work.
Gluzman is a Ukranian-born Israeli classical violinist who has performed with many of the world’s top orchestras, such as the London philharmonic and symphony orchestras, the San Francisco Symphony and the Chicago Symphony.
