The New Albany Symphony Orchestra is bringing the classic children’s story Peter and the Wolf to life.
Peter and the Wolf is conducted by Music Director Luis Biava and composed by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. Performances will be held 11:30 a.m., Feb. 6, and 3 p.m., Feb. 7 at the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts, 100 E. Dublin-Granville Road in New Albany.
Peter and the Wolf is the story of a boy’s encounters with various animals that live in a forest near his grandfather’s house. Each animal possesses its own musical theme, accompanied by a specific instrument.
Sunday’s performance will be a typical two-hour performance, with two acts and an intermission. However, Saturday’s show will be a specially adapted version, geared toward the needs of neurodiverse families, including those on the autism spectrum. The show will also feature a downloadable storyboard, sign language interpreters and quiet zones that allow families to enjoy the show in a friendly, understanding atmosphere.
Tickets for Saturday’s performance are $6 for general admission seating. Sunday’s tickets are reserved seating, and range $11 to $19 for advanced sale tickets. Tickets purchased day-of range $13 to $21. Tickets can be purchased by calling CAPA at 614-469-0939, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at the venue one hour before the performance.
