About Last Night ...
On Nov. 10, Thurber House Evenings with Authors will present Stewart O’Nan, reading from his national bestseller, Last Night at the Lobster, and from his new novel, Songs for the Missing, the story of a family living in the tragic aftermath of their daughter’s sudden disappearance.
The event will be held at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Ave., at 7:30 p.m.
In Songs for the Missing, the novel begins in the voice of Kim Larsen, a popular, beautiful young woman with a wild side that only her closest friends know about. Recently graduated from high school, Kim lives in a small Ohio town with her parents and younger sister. She’s working a summer job, planning for college in the fall and dating a steady boyfriend. Then Kim vanishes, and her family and friends begin their desperate search. As the story unfolds, O’Nan explores the connectedness of small-town life and how each person deals differently with grief and tragic loss.
O’Nan is the author of one story collection, 11 novels, and two works of nonfiction, including The New York Times bestselling Faithful, written with Stephen King. He has won several literary awards, including The Washington Post’s “Book of the Year” for Last Night at the Lobster, and his novel, Snow Angel, was made into a film.
Following the reading, O’Nan will take questions, chat with the audience about his writing and sign books that will be available for purchase. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door, with discounts for students and seniors. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 614-464-1032 or visit www.thurberhouse.org.
