ProMusica plans for guest baritone Nomura

The ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus features guest baritone Christopheren Nomura in two performances on Feb. 6 and 7. Additionally, two regional premieres will be debuted at the Feb. 7 performance.

"Songs of a Wayfarer," including Mahler’s Songs of Wayfarer, Bach’s Cantata No. 82 and Mozart’s Symphony No. 29 will be performed at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Pontifical College Josephinum, 7625 N. High St. At 7 p.m. Feb. 7, The Southern Theatre, 21 E. Main St., hosts “Letters From Lincoln” as ProMusica presents two regional premieres, Derek Bermel’s A Shout, A Whisper, and A Trace and Michael Daugherty’s Letters from Lincoln, as well as Mozart’s Symphony No. 29.

With baritone Nomura, the audience will be treated to a seasoned international performer who has been hailed as one of classical music’s “rising stars” by the Wall Street Journal.

Also, the composers of the regional premieres, Derek Bermel and Michael Daugherty, will be in attendance on Feb. 7.

To kick off the weekend, on Feb. 5 visiting composer Bermel will lead a free masterclass at Capital University’s Conservatory of Music. Bermel will speak about his most recent composition A Shout, A Whisper, and A Trace.

The masterclass event is free and open to the public.
