A Mysterious Mission
BalletMet presenting the interactive mystery ballet Whodunit?

A disappearance. Several suspect characters. A sleuthing detective.

Join BalletMet Columbus and discover Whodunit?, a world premiere interactive mystery ballet March 8-18 at Capitol Theatre, 77 S. High St. The mystery is appropriate for all ages and set to an original score. It will captivate the audience and provide them the opportunity to solve who committed the crime.

The crime scene is at a theatre during the finale of a famous ballet. An item goes missing in the first scene of the performance, and iconic suspects include a femme fatale, the professor, the heiress and - of course - the butler. Unique suspects include the choreographer and the costume designer.

Evidence is revealed throughout the ballet.

“It’s a fun, new show. You’ve seen plenty of detective films, and you’ve seen Harry Potter, and all kinds of mystery works, and so to bring it to ballet is a new and innovative idea,” says Jennifer Scianterelli, communications manager of BalletMet.

Created by the husband-wife duo Susan Hadley and Bradley Sowash, Whodunit’s score is sprinkled with cleverly placed snippets from spy movie soundtracks and pop culture icons. Hadley choreographed the full-length ballet, which takes inspiration from classic film noir detective mysteries, blending mystery and humor of traditional whodunits and the spectacular dancing of the BalletMet Company.

In addition to the clues dropped throughout the production, audience members can also take part in the Armchair Detectives interactive experience, sponsored by Time Warner Cable, for their chance to win a BalletMet gift pack including tickets to The Sleeping Beauty, which is April 26-29 at the Ohio Theatre.

The Armchair Detective experience will take place during all performances of Whodunit? Audience members can collect clues during the performances and they can be turned in following at www.aroundrr.com/whodunit.

Tickets to Whodunit? are $25 and $39 through the BalletMet Office, 614-229-4848, at www.balletmet.org, through CAPA at 614-469-0939 or Ticketmaster, 614-431-3600.
