A Favorite Son Returns
Aaron Diehl set to play an evening of jazz
A "favorite son" of Columbus jazz, the young piano sensation Aaron Diehl returns from New York City to his hometown, showcasing his talent and an exciting collection of some of today's outstanding jazz stars.

Aaron Diehl and the N.Y. Connection is presented by Jazz Arts Group and the King Arts Complex. Diehl will perform evening of jazz with the drummer Carmen Intorre and bassist Yasushi Nakamura, completing the N.Y.Connection.

Aaron Diehl and the N.Y. Connection will be held Saturday, Nov. 24 at the King Arts Complex, 867 Mount Vernon Ave. The performance begins at 8 p.m.

Single tickets ($25, or $15 for KAC members) are available for purchase online at www.jazzartsgroup.org or from the Jazz Arts Group ticket office at 614-294-5200, ext. 3.

Aaron Diehl is a native of Columbus and an alumnus of The Julliard School (2007). He is the winner of the 2003 Hank Marr competition and is the 2004 recipient of the Martin E. Segal award for Jazz at Lincoln Center. Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as “The most promising discovery that [Wynton] Marsalis has made since Eric Reed,” Diehl has proven himself to be a major force in jazz today, having performed with such luminaries as Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Wessell Anderson, Benny Golson and Hank Jones. A former student of Columbus giants Mark Flugge and Bobby Floyd, Diehl is an alumnus of Jazz Arts Group’s Columbus Jazz Youth Orchestra and is presently the musical director of St. Joseph of the Holy Family Church in Central Harlem.
