BalletMet Columbus offers revelry especially for children at Dance Day for Kids, Sat., Feb. 16 at the Capitol Theatre beginning at 1 p.m. The event, geared toward children ages 3 through 10, includes fun, hands-on activities followed by a special performance at 2 p.m.
After the performance, kids can meet BalletMet dancers on stage. General admission tickets are $12 at the door or through the BalletMet Box Office (614.229.4848), CAPA (614.469.0939) or Ticketmaster (614.431.3600).
The diverse Dance Day for Kids performance will feature BalletMet’s student performance group YouthMet in works by Maria Glimcher and Company dancer Adam Hundt including Hundt’s Dream in Color, set to Over the Rainbow.
The BalletMet Company professional dancers will perform Glimcher’s Big League Dream, Randy Duncan’s Everyday People, an excerpt from Alexander Schneider-Rossmy’s world premiere work and more. After the performance, families can take the stage and meet the dancers.
Children can let their imaginations run wild with activities that include:
• Participating in a Creative Movement class that encourages creativity and expression
• Creating their very own Valentine’s day cards
• Crafting unique crowns with colorful sequins and stickers
• Flexing their muscles with a fun bean bag toss
