The Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour will make a stop at the Ohio Theatre March 8 at 6:30 p.m. The colorful and dynamic performance showcases Chinese dance and music as it was meant to be - a synthesis of beauty, vitality and grace.
The performance will focus on the story of ancient legends of virtue brought to life alongside modern tales of courage, as told by vocalists and a live orchestra. Dozens of dancers in dazzling costumes will perform to the beat of thunderous drums against spectacular backdrops such as magestic celestial palaces, sprawling Mongolian grasslands and cascading clouds.
Divine Performing Arts' shows consist primarily of vocal music and dance, with creative inspiration drawn from traditional Chinese culture. Experience a lost heritage pulled from the legends and values of centuries of Chinese culture before communist rule.
Divine Performing Arts is the world's premier Chinese dance and music company. The company is a collaboration of leading dancers, choreographers and musicians from the around the world and is based in New York City. It is independent of China's communist regime, and premieres a new program each year.
This year's event is part of a five-month, 20-country world tour.
This show is being jointly sponsored by the Oriental Culture Association, a non-profit organization devoted to East-West cultural exchange, and the Ohio Falun Dafa Association.
